IBM proposes partnership with academic institutions to equip students with skills needed for the future



IBM is partnering with academic institutions and universities to equip students with future-ready skills, says Dinesh Nirmal, senior vice president of products at IBM Software. The company aims to prepare students for advancements in the technological revolution happening globally. This initiative was discussed at the Gen AI conclave organized in Kochi in collaboration with the Government of Kerala.

IBM’s growth strategy revolves around artificial intelligence, and it is dedicated to collaborating with various ecosystems for AI development. In line with this, IBM has opened a Gen AI innovation center in Kochi to accelerate AI innovation, enhance productivity, and strengthen AI expertise in India. The center, part of the IBM India Software Lab, will facilitate enterprises and startups to explore generative AI technology for addressing societal and business challenges.

The focus of the Gen AI initiative is on contributing to society and integrating AI into people’s lives. The Kochi hub is expanding rapidly, with a doubling in strength over the past three years. Kochi is becoming a prominent IT hub, attracting skilled professionals who seek a conducive work environment, enabling them to work from home comfortably.

In addition to the conclave in Kochi, IBM plans to organize similar events in other parts of the country, including Think Mumbai 2024 in September. These events aim to engage with the student community and equip them with the necessary skills to thrive in the evolving technological landscape.IBM’s efforts to partner with academic institutions and open an innovation center in Kochi underscore its commitment to fostering AI innovation and societal development in India.
