IBM said this Thursday they are expanding its digital banking stack with a direct link to Swift’s blockchain-based shared ledger, alongside an on-premises option for its Digital Asset Haven platform. The announcement is real. The leap some posts made to a fresh Stellar (XLM) partnership is not what the new release actually says.
What IBM actually announced on SWIFT integration
In a Sept. 24, 2026 newsroom post, IBM said financial institutions using IBM Digital Asset Haven can now connect, in beta, to permissioned blockchain networks — including SWIFT for tokenized deposit transactions.
The pitch is practical rather than flashy. Banks already live inside Swift’s network of more than 12,500 institutions across 200+ markets.
