IBM has been selected for Stage C of DARPA’s Quantum Benchmarking Initiative, where independent experts will test its technology and assess its plans to build a fault-tolerant quantum computer.
DARPA’s initiative aims to determine whether a quantum computer whose computational value exceeds its cost can be built by 2033.
IBM plans to deliver its fault-tolerant Quantum Starling system in 2029, combining advances in error correction, processor design and systems engineering.
