“I violated every policy I was given”: AI agent deletes company’s entire database in 9 seconds, then confesses

An AI coding agent meant to help a small software company streamline its tasks instead blew a hole in its business in just nine seconds.

Jer Crane, founder of PocketOS, said that AI coding agent Cursor – based on Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.6 model – wiped the company’s entire production database and backups with a single call to its cloud provider Railway on April 24.
