Windows 11 has a funny relationship with its own features. Microsoft will spend the engineering time building something useful, tuck a perfectly functional switch somewhere in Settings, and then leave it disabled on a fresh setup.
That got me wondering whether those defaults were actually doing me a favor. I turned on seven features that were switched off on my Windows 11 PC and used them as part of my normal routine. Three have earned permanent residency. The other four reminded me why Windows sometimes leaves the nerdier switches alone until somebody goes looking for them.
