I thought I could replace Google Photos. I was wrong

I have relied on Google Photos for years to manage my photo library. But as a new father, my photo library has been growing at an absurd pace.

I’m taking at least a few photos and videos every day, and it’s only a matter of time before I reach my Google account’s 2TB limit.

I recently built my first NAS and decided to switch to Immich — a popular self-hosted option — for managing my image library. This way, I would not have to worry about storage.

I was optimistic Immich could replace Google Photos for me. I was wrong.
