The Ampere AmpereOne platform by Hyve was showcased at GTC 2024, featuring a modular NVIDIA Micro-MGX reference platform. The server chassis includes an 8x E1.S SSD platform and is designed to optimize airflow for components like DPUs, NICs, and NVIDIA GPUs. The system also showcases the NVIDIA L40S as an alternative to the A100. The motherboard features the LGA5964 socket for the Ampere AmpereOne platform, boasting up to 192 cores on an 8-channel DDR5 platform with a 12-channel DDR5 platform in the works. NVIDIA has been promoting its Grace Hopper (GH200) platforms alongside AmpereOne, offering more cores but requiring a PCIe connection to the GPUs.

While this platform is a reference design, Hyve, a TD SYNNEX company known for hyperscale deployments, is behind it. The AmpereOne CPU marks a departure from older Arm processors like Altra/Altra Max or Grace-based CPUs. Despite having reviewed various Arm server CPUs over the years, including Annapurna Labs, Cavium ThunderX, and Altra Ampere, AmpereOne has yet to be covered.

The AmpereOne platform presented in the NVIDIA Micro-MGX configuration offers a glimpse into the future of server technology, building on past innovations like the Gigabyte Ampere Altra Max and NVIDIA A100 platform from GTC Fall 2022. As a key player in the hyperscale deployment space, Hyve’s Ampere AmpereOne system showcases the evolving landscape of server technology and the transition towards more powerful and efficient solutions for data centers.

The platform’s focus on modularity, airflow optimization, and next-generation CPUs highlights the industry’s shift towards more advanced and efficient server solutions. As the demand for high-performance compute continues to grow, innovations like the AmpereOne platform by Hyve are paving the way for the next generation of data center infrastructure.

Overall, the Ampere AmpereOne system from Hyve represents a step forward in server technology, showcasing the potential for improved performance, efficiency, and scalability in modern data center environments. As the industry continues to evolve, platforms like AmpereOne will play a crucial role in meeting the growing demands of hyperscale deployments and advancing the state of server technology for years to come.
