Hyperscaler AI spending could slow if Oracle shows “discipline.”

CNBC’s Jim Cramer proposed this action on Tuesday oracle could curb other hyperscalers’ huge spending on artificial intelligence, saying the OpenAI partner should show “discipline.”

“Oracle already has enormous debt. Their balance sheet is not that good. At some point they will heed the bond market’s warning and slow down,” he said. “These data centers cost a fortune and even the best builders are floundering…Oracle can’t risk blowing its balance sheet for Sam Altman. This is the time and the way we get out of this quagmire.”

Cramer named five tech giants that are investing heavily in AI: Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Meta and OpenAI in partnership with oracle. These names are trying to outdo each other and are building data centers wherever they can, Cramer said. He added that they are also trying to stop competitors from encroaching on their core business.
