Cisco Systems (CSCO) supplies businesses and the hyperscalers building AI infrastructure with networking and security products, along with services. The company’s stock climbed 92% between late July 2021 and mid-October 2026, before dividends. A rally of that magnitude makes it natural to credit a growing business. So take a guess: how much of that rise came from Cisco selling more?
How Much Did Cisco’s Sales Grow?
Cisco expanded its sales 27% over those five years. The company generated $63.3 billion in the twelve months to July 2026, compared with $49.8 billion in the twelve months to July 2021. That growth accounts for a little over a third of the stock’s rise. Because the four changes multiply together, each portion of the rise is measured on a scale that lets them add up to 100%.
Expanding the business represents a real achievement. Yet nearly two thirds of the stock’s advance came from somewhere else.
