Whether via telephone, films, radio, television, the Internet or now artificial intelligence, village life offers lessons in human interaction with communications technology.
This is what I learned during the hot summer I spent in my home village in Euboea researching my dissertation on how people embrace innovation. The villagers first saw these new devices in the village cafes. Radio, telephone, television and the Internet soon became an integral part of village life, even in the most remote village in Greece. These technologies pass the “village life test”.
Artificial intelligence has frozen this. One day it just appeared and was ready to download. Medical, legal, financial, even marriage or partner advice – it’s all available to us. Our own…
