How AI is leveling the playing field in the search for our next Olympians

Every few months, talent scouts from the Queensland Academy of Sport (QAS) hit the road and visit schools in dozens of regional towns.

Through a series of simple physical tests, they search for future Olympians and Paralympians in sports that students may never have heard of, let alone had the opportunity to try.

It could be a turning point for a boy from Innisfail to become an elite aerial skier, or for someone from Emerald to one day represent the country in archery.

But these opportunities may only come around once a year. Young people outside regional centers are likely to miss out entirely.

The QAS hopes to change that with a unique app designed to level the playing field ahead of the 2032 Games in Brisbane.
