The United Nations issued the warnings on Thursday in a report on the environmental impacts of artificial intelligence, which also called for regulatory changes to avert the most damaging impacts.
The findings come as technology companies scramble to build more data centers in Australia, and less than a month after the Senate launched an inquiry into their regulation and distribution.
