Nov 25 (Reuters) – Artificial intelligence server maker Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE.N)open a new tab said Tuesday it won a $931 million contract from a U.S. Department of Defense combat support agency to provide cloud services for its data centers.

US President Donald Trump ordered the department to change its name to the Department of War, a change that will require congressional action.

The contract with HPE, aimed at creating a cloud environment to improve “warrior” outcomes, underscores federal confidence in the company’s cloud capabilities as the government accelerates efforts to modernize infrastructure, investing billions in AI and signing contracts with major industry players.

The e-commerce giant Amazon.com (AMZN.O)open a new tab said on Monday that it would invest up to 50 billion dollars to expand artificial intelligence and supercomputing capabilities for Amazon Web Services US government customers.
