Google TV now offers over 130 free streaming channels with the addition of 10 new options

Google TV has expanded its free ad-supported television (FAST) service by adding 10 new channels for US viewers in its June 2024 update. These new channels, discovered by StreamingBetter, are located in the “live” section of the Google TV interface. The new channels include Western film, ION+, Johnny Carson television, Telemundo News Now, Ownership and renovation, Royal Disaster Channel, Supermarket sweep, The FBI Files, The world’s most brutal police videos, and Yahoo Finance.

Google is heavily investing in the FAST market, which is experiencing rapid growth as more companies are launching free TV services or ad-supported platforms. Google recently introduced the Google TV Network ad network, which will be integrated into the Google TV service across various brands, including manufacturers like Sony, Hisense, and TCL, as well as Android and Chromecast devices. This ad network will allow brands to buy ads on free-to-air channels and utilize new options like non-skippable ads.

The fast growth of FAST is due to the increasing financial strain on consumers, making free ad-supported services more appealing than paid subscriptions. With Google adding more channels to its FAST service, it becomes even more attractive to viewers. Some recent Google TV releases include the Sony Bravia 9 and the TCL QM851G, both high-end sets that can benefit from the free entertainment offered by the FAST service. Additionally, users can add Google TV to other televisions using the Chromecast with Google TV.

Overall, Google’s expansion of the FAST service with new channels and the introduction of the Google TV Network ad network highlights the company’s commitment to providing free, ad-supported television options to viewers. As the FAST market continues to grow, Google’s initiative to offer more channels and advertising opportunities will further solidify its position in the streaming industry.
