Google Beats Data Scraper’s Bid for Licensing Deals in IP Suit

SerpApi failed to convince a federal judge to order Google to turn over its copyright licensing agreements cited in the Big Tech company’s lawsuit accusing the software firm of illegally scraping content from its search results.

“SerpApi has not cited a single case in which a court has ordered the production of documents mentioned in a complaint on the ground that they are incorporated by reference into the complaint,” Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers said Tuesday. “No legal authority exists for the proposition that normal procedural, including discovery, processes should be circumvented.”
