Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence assistant crossed 1 billion monthly active users, according to a Tuesday blog post, reaching the benchmark not long after OpenAI’s ChatGPT crossed the same threshold.

Google said the Gemini app officially surpassed 1 billion monthly users, less than a month after the company reported 950 million monthly users in its latest earnings report.
Google said 63% of users directly speak to Gemini as opposed to typing prompts, noting busy parents are “43% more likely to use voice for everyday tasks.”
One in five interactions with Gemini involve screen sharing and live camera feeds, according to Google.
Apple users make up over 100 million of Gemini’s monthly active users, Google added, noting macOS users prompt around two times more frequently than other platforms.
