A video game executive has sparked a fierce debate over the industry’s widespread use of generative AI by claiming: “Gen Z loves AI bullshit.”
Jacob Navok, CEO of interactive video game company Genvid and former director of Square Enix, said in a recent tweet: “For all the anti-AI sentiment we see in various articles, consumers generally don’t seem to care.”
Navok referenced the “biggest game of the year” called “Steal a Brainrot,” which, as the name suggests, is full of AI slop characters. The game, based on the hugely popular online gaming platform Roblox, last month became the first game to surpass 25 million concurrent players on a platform.
“Gen Z loves AI bullshit, they don’t care,” Navok wrote. “The next generation of gamers is Bane in Dark Knight Rises saying, ‘You just took over that crap, I was born into it.'”
