As part of a job search, outsourcing and offshoring company Oceans asked candidates to film a video in which they answered a question: What is your most controversial personal belief about the workplace? The company received more than 300 responses and most of them were eerily similar.
“It was abundantly clear that it was (artificial intelligence),” Matt Wallaert, Oceans’ chief experience officer, said of the repeated responses, which also followed the same structure. It was as if “you were as lazy as possible…you failed to communicate your personal beliefs.”

The situation resulted in Wallaert and the hiring team not knowing how to evaluate candidates, as even some of the most qualified candidates came together.
