At approximately 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 11, the New York State Police and the Town of Somers Police Department responded at to the Ridge Way area in Somers on reports of vehicles parked along the roadway, according to NYSP. Investigators believed the vehicles belonged to individuals trespassing at the former IBM complex.
Troopers and investigators entered the property and detained Violette O. Nidds, 24, of Ridgewood, and Benjamin F. Volino, 25, of Mahwah, authorities said. Volino was seen carrying a large crowbar. During the arrest, police found Volino in possession of a loaded 9mm firearm and items taken from the property, including a Sony camera and a power strip, according to authorities.
Nidds was charged with third-degree criminal trespass and issued an appearance ticket, police said. Volino was charged with multiple offenses, including second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and second-degree burglary, and was remanded to the…
