The IMF warns that AI tools like Mythos threaten financial stability
Newsflash: The International Monetary Fund warns that risks to financial stability are increasing as artificial intelligence drives cyberattacks.
A new blog post just published states: IMF highlights Claude myth as an example of how quickly risks increase.
The fund calls for “resilience, oversight and international coordination” to protect global financial markets and protect them from attackers with new AI tools.
It warns that AI tools like Mythos can “dramatically” reduce the time and cost of identifying and exploiting vulnerabilities, increasing the risk that vulnerabilities in key systems will be discovered and exploited.
IMF experts Tobias Adrian, Tamas Gaidosh And Rangachary Ravikumar write:
Mythos was able to find and exploit vulnerabilities in all common operating systems and web browsers – even if they are used by laypeople.
