A Perth FIFO worker has encouraged people to come forward and challenge AI camera seatbelt fines after revealing the straightforward court process in a social media video.
Miner Ashlea, known on social media as “The Salty Pinup,” took to TikTok on Thursday to share her experience of overturning a $550 fine and four penalty points after her male passenger was caught on an AI camera wearing a seatbelt incorrectly.
Ashlea, who was named the “Hottest Truck Driver in the World” in 2023, warned her 82,000 followers not to pay AI camera fines after her cameras were “erased” after a police officer asked her three simple questions.
“I had to go to court because you know the new AI cameras had my passenger with the seatbelt slipped under his arm. So since I’m the driver, that means it’s supposedly my fault. That’s why I got a $550 fine and lost four penalty points, which actually caused me to lose my license,” she said.
“I was like, damn, this is crazy…”
