The founder of one of Australia’s largest private technology companies has compared the US government’s blocking of access to Anthropic’s most powerful artificial intelligence models to Iran’s oil blockade, as Labor MP Ed Husic warned the move had exposed the country’s over-reliance on technology it does not control.
An unprecedented export control directive from the Trump administration over the weekend blocked access to the Mythos 5 and Fable 5 Anthropic models to all foreign nationals, including those within the United States.
