DTE officials “anticipate approval on Dec. 18,” when the Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) next meets, according to a business update to investors released Friday.
That’s despite DTE’s previous warning that the entire deal to power the massive 2.2 million square foot facility could be off the table if the Public Service Commission does not grant expedited approval by Friday, December 5th. The utility is applying for an ex-parte, accelerated permit to cover 1.4 gigawatts of electricity needs the data center powered by ChatGPT developer OpenAI and cloud computing giant Oracle on about 250 acres of a 575-acre property on W. Michigan Avenue in the township south of Ann Arbor.
