Dozens rally at Putnam County meeting against proposed Google data center in Buffalo

Several dozen community members voiced strong opposition on Friday at a meeting in Putnam county to Google’s data center coming in.

The thought of the proposed data center coming into Buffalo is leaving many in the area worried like Heather Ranson.

“We have been told that these companies want to be in communities where they are wanted, and there might be some out there,” Ranson said. “But what has been shown and demonstrated here tonight is that Buffalo isn’t ready for this. We aren’t willing to give up our little pieces of paradise.”

Our cameras were not allowed into the meeting once it started, but others like Ranson hope to see strong community involvement in stopping the data center. Jimmie Meadows was in attendance and worries about the impacts it could have on the environment.
