oracle (ORCL 2.62%) rose 3% on Monday after TikTok released a press release outlining details of the newly formed TikTok US Data Security Joint Venture.
Oracle, private equity firm Silver Lake and Abu Dhabi-based investment firm MGX each hold a 15% stake in the joint venture and will serve as its managing investors. A number of non-executive investors own a total of 35.1%, and China-based ByteDance will retain the remaining 19.9%.
US user data is hosted on the Oracle Cloud, with Oracle acting as a “trusted security partner” for software backup.
With this new joint venture, buying Oracle shares is now the easiest way to invest in TikTok’s US operations. And with the stock down more than 47% from its 52-week high, here’s what investors should focus on instead.
