Don’t let AI cancel the NAPLAN writing tests

When it comes to our children, it’s hard to imagine anything more depressing than artificial intelligence hindering their literacy development.

This is exactly what the Australian Government Primary Principals Association (AGPPA) called for last week. They proposed scrapping the National Assessment Program Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) by abolishing the writing test and shifting the focus of assessment from biological reasoning to using AI tools to revise writing or check sources on its behalf.
