OpenAI is pulling the plug on viral AI video generator Sora, just three months after agreeing to a $1 billion deal with Sora Disney.
Posted in a short message to XOpenAI said it is saying goodbye to the Sora app and will release more information soon, including details about how users of the app can preserve the videos they have already created.
“What you did to Sora was important, and we know this news is disappointing,” the post reads.
Sora was released in September last year and quickly grew in popularity social mediais used to create artificially created lifelike videos that often left people wondering if the content was real.
The confusion led many experts and advocacy groups to express concern about the app’s risks simply by typing a prompt.
Many warned that this could lead to the spread of non-consensual images and realistic deepfakes in a sea of “AI scum.”
