The unwavering presence of AI has been an unwelcome companion to my job for the past few years, but it certainly feels longer. It’s not even that it’s a thrillingly malevolent artificial spirit whose tendrils of influence snake through my world. That would be satisfying, at least from a science fiction perspective. No, what I was dealing with, I can barely write, let alone count, and I’ve only just figured out what fingers are.

Still, it’s something that’s permeated every product announcement, presentation, or preview from a company even tangentially related to technology that I’ve attended lately. To the point where I now have a crappy AI bingo card that I fill out just to distract myself from the hard-to-resist urge to stick a pen through my own hand just to feel something real.
