What’s the deal? Nutanix has acquired Ryax Technologies, a France-based AI compute orchestration and management platform founded in 2017. Financial terms were not disclosed.
What’s the endgame? Nutanix plans to fold Ryax’s GPU utilization and smart scheduling capabilities into the Nutanix Kubernetes Platform and Nutanix Enterprise AI. The goal, it says, is to help enterprises build, run, and govern agentic AI across any infrastructure.
Why now? GPU shortages and fragmented infrastructure have pushed many businesses to split compute across private data centers, hyperscalers, and neoclouds to find capacity, according to Debo Dutta, Nutanix’s chief AI officer. “Agentic AI requires flexible architecture, simple operations and the ability to use infrastructure far more efficiently,” he said.
Enterprises also struggle to move AI projects from experimentation into production because of the manual configuration and integration involved. Ryax’s platform automates the underlying infrastructure, data, hardware, and code to speed deployment and cut costs.
What changes for customers? Nutanix is targeting two capabilities: AI-aware smart scheduling, which places workloads on cost-effective hardware, and intelligent resource optimization, which squeezes more out of available GPUs and CPUs to reduce waste.
