According to Adam Beavis, Databricks’ vice president and country manager for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ), artificial intelligence (AI) projects are evolving from the exclusive domain of technologists to a central part of the business environment, with the market reaching a tipping point in 2026.
Speaking to Computer Weekly on the sidelines of the Sydney leg of the company’s Data+AI World Tour, Beavis pointed out that companies need to act quickly to replicate the successes of companies like Suncorp. However, he warned that “everything has to start with good data.”
Once this foundation is in place, agent AI can be implemented quickly. Databricks aims to handle the “undifferentiated heavy lifting” so customers can focus on execution, Beavis said. He noted that business units are increasingly asking how they can extract value from their inventory, using tools like Genie (the company’s intelligent assistant) and dashboards to visualize that value.
