Yesterday we published an article from a contributor who later confirmed that he had used AI in some aspects of his production.
This violates our editorial guidelines. For this reason, we wrote down the story and the three previous stories in the series.
This came to our attention when we were made aware of a post by AI expert Toby Walsh, who suggested that AI was used in the writing of the article. After verifying the claim, we contacted the article’s author, who told us that he used ChatGPT to create the article. They collaborated extensively with us and provided us with drafts and notes. They explained to us that generative AI was not used to write their articles at scale, but rather to sensor-check their work, proofread, check spelling, ask for alternative subheadings, and in some cases, better wording.
