It is that time of the year again when Cisco publishes its latest report on cybersecurity in the enterprise space. Instead of Cybersecurity Readiness, which it has focused on in recent years, 2026 has seen a shift, with Cisco debuting its Relentless Defence Report.
The latest report, which surveyed 8 000 security professionals across 30 markets, including 170 in South Africa, has given an overall score to each country, with SA recording 60 out of 100.
This is slightly lower than the global average, which is 64 out of 100, and showcases that local organisations are indeed maturing in terms of their security posture.
That said, the report also highlighted that the rapid evolution of cybersecurity threats has seen no change in the intensity with which organisations are targeted, with 95 percent reporting experiencing a material cybersecurity incident in the past 12 months.
