Investing.com — Chinese artificial intelligence startup Moonshot AI has explored leasing data center capacity in Europe to secure remote access to NVIDIA Corporation’s (NASDAQ:NVDA) advanced Blackwell processors, according to a report from CNBC. The move highlights how Chinese developers are increasingly looking beyond domestic borders to bypass tightening U.S. export restrictions on cutting-edge silicon.

The Beijing-based lab, known for its Kimi model family, discussed renting infrastructure from European neocloud providers hosting clusters of 8,000 or more Blackwell GPUs, CNBC reported, citing people familiar with the matter. Those discussions focused primarily on computing clusters for model inference, though interest in training capacity was also explored.

The European push follows White House claims in July that Moonshot had remotely tapped Blackwell systems through infrastructure located in Thailand. While existing U.S. export controls forbid physical shipments of top-tier accelerators directly to China, current trade frameworks leave cross-border cloud leasing largely outside regulatory reach.
