CBA sends over a decade of data to the cloud as AI demand increases

The Commonwealth Bank has moved more than a decade of financial data to the cloud to further streamline its on-premises systems and accelerate its adoption of AI.

Data has been steadily accumulating in the local data visualization platform Tableau over the past 12 years.

However, Pooja Sharma, the principal owner of the CBA technology product, said that on-premises deployment was a barrier to meeting internal demand for AI-driven analytics and was recently phased out in favor of a cloud-based version of the application managed by the software supplier.
