Advanced Micro Devices (AMD, Financials) just lost another sizable chunk of Cathie Wood’s backing as ARK Invest shifted money toward two of its biggest AI-chip rivals.
ARK also purchased 356,681 Nvidia (NVDA, Financials) shares for $81.04 million and 76,263 Broadcom (AVGO, Financials) shares worth $25.56 million. The deals continue a trend.
ARK sold 156,286 AMD shares for $74.5 million and bought $55.6 million of Nvidia and $20.5 million of Broadcom on Aug. 28.
The current AMD sell by ARK has not been explained, thus the transactions do not prove Wood is pessimistic on the chipmaker. However, the time matters.
AMD bought Fei-Fei Li’s AI business World Labs for $8.2 billion in shares. AMD will improve its AI models and tools for simulation and autonomous systems with the agreement. Meanwhile, Nvidia and Broadcom announce fast AI infrastructure development.
