International Business Machines Corporation IBM is advancing enterprise computing with a new dual-architecture processor designed to bring Arm-native applications to future IBM Z and LinuxONE systems. The processor is part of IBM’s collaboration with Arm Holdings plc ARM and aims to give enterprises more software choices for mission-critical workloads.
IBM’s latest processor will enable Arm-native Linux environments to run alongside z/OS and Linux on IBM Z, giving enterprises access to a broader software ecosystem while maintaining security, reliability and scalability. Built on a 2-nanometer process, it will feature 11 high-performance cores running above 5.7 GHz, artificial intelligence (AI) inference accelerators for tasks such as fraud detection, an on-chip data processing unit for faster I/O and a large cache designed for demanding enterprise workloads.
