Bunning’s most trusted brand as AI, social media slip

During the hardware store Bunnings retaining the mantle of Australia for the third year in a row, distrust of AI is coming to the fore.

It was perhaps no surprise when Roy Morgan’s research revealed on Wednesday that Bunnings achieved its 10th consecutive quarterly win, stretching back to the end of 2023.

PPerhaps even more surprising is who we distrust.

Popular artificial intelligence company OpenAI – which also owns ChatGPT – has been named in Australia’s top 20 most distrusted brands for the first time, joining social media companies, tech giant Google, our major supermarkets and Optus.

The The top three spots for trusted brands remained unchanged from last year, with supermarket Aldi in second place and discount department store Kmart in third place.

Commonwealth Bank took fourth place, while tech giant Apple took the top five spots and Big W again took sixth place.

Leading department store Myer improved its position by one place to seventh, while Samsung rose three places to 11th. NAB improved one position to 16th place,…
