Ken, a copywriter for a large cybersecurity company based in Miami, used to enjoy his job. But then the “work rubbish” began to pile up.
Workslop is an unintended consequence of the AI boom. This is what happens when employees use AI to generate work quickly appears polished – at least superficially – but in reality is so flawed or inaccurate that it needs to be heavily corrected, cleaned up or even completely revised after it has been passed on to colleagues.
For Ken, the problem began after his company’s CEO fired several of his colleagues and mandated the remaining employees use AI chatbots, saying it would increase their productivity. While creating initial drafts was a breeze, Ken and his colleagues had to spend more time rewriting them, correcting errors, and resolving disagreements between each other’s chatbots than if they had never used AI.
