Black Friday drove the largest increase in online shopping activity during the peak season, but the increased demand spanned the entire period from Black Friday to Cyber ​​Monday and began much earlier in November, according to new data from e-commerce search firm Constructor.

The company analyzed product discovery activity across hundreds of retail websites during the key trading period. On Black Friday alone, 2.27 billion interactions were recorded, including personalized search results, autosuggest completions, and product recommendations.

Constructor said online shoppers weren’t waiting for the traditional late November launch. Search and product discovery traffic increased approximately 40% over late October levels in the days leading up to Black Friday. This indicated a longer build-up of demand.
