Bhavish Aggarwal, founder and CEO of Ola, fulfilled his promise by transferring all of the company’s technology workloads from Microsoft’s Azure ecosystem to its own cloud, Krutrim, within a week. He also announced plans to assist others in migrating to their platform in India, with over 2,500 developers already registered. Of these developers, 1,883 were verified and 540 were not verified. It is not yet clear if any companies have joined Krutrim or shown interest in doing so.
Aggarwal’s decision to move Ola’s technology workload to Krutrim came after he criticized LinkedIn, a Microsoft-owned platform, for removing his post on the pronoun disease. He emphasized the importance of India developing its own technology and artificial intelligence platforms, expressing concern about the dominance of Western Big Tech monopolies in Indian life.
Aggarwal stated, “I am not against global technology companies, but as an Indian citizen, I am concerned about the cultural dominance of Western tech giants. This is why we need to build our own Indian technology platforms.” He clarified that his actions were driven by a desire to combat forced ideologies and promote a free-thinking approach.
