AWS WAF, a web application firewall, is now offered in the AWS Canada West (Calgary) Region. This expansion adds to the existing availability in the AWS Canada (Central) Region, providing customers with more options. Designed to safeguard web application resources from common web and bot attacks that can disrupt operations, compromise security, or drain resources, AWS WAF can secure Amazon CloudFront and Application Load Balancer distributions in the AWS Canada West (Calgary) Region. Additional support for other AWS resource types, like Amazon API Gateway REST APIs, is projected to be included in the future.
By utilizing AWS WAF, users can manage access to their content. This is achieved by setting conditions, such as the originating IP addresses or query string values of requests. Depending on these conditions, the protected resource will respond by providing the requested content, returning an HTTP status code of 403 (Forbidden), or delivering a customized response.
For a comprehensive list of regions where AWS WAF is currently accessible, refer to the AWS Region Table. To access more detailed information about the service, please explore the AWS WAF page.
