A nationwide analysis of over 800 Australian online retailers has found that 85 percent of product pages do not meet basic search performance standards, creating significant challenges as AI-driven systems are central to product discovery.

As platforms like Google, ChatGPT and Perplexity increasingly shape online retail, the quality of product information has become a crucial factor in visibility. The review found that there are widespread issues on many retailers’ websites with product titles, incomplete or inconsistent attributes, repeated use of descriptions and an unpredictable brand voice.
