The new MoU will provide a framework for technical cooperation and promote the safe and responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI).
The MoU strengthens collaboration between the Australian AI Safety Institute, currently being established, and the UK AI Security Institute.
Under the MoU, both parties aim to:
- Share information and expertise about new AI capabilities and risks, as well as best practices for testing AI systems
- Conduct collaborative research, including approaches to measuring, testing and managing risk
- Support the multilateral work of the International Network for Advanced AI Measurement, Evaluation and Science.
The MoU supports the Australian Government’s National AI Plan. The plan aims to keep Australians safe by strengthening international cooperation on AI risk and security. Australia can respond to the rapid pace of AI development by working with our trusted partners.
