Google’s Gemini artificial intelligence models will be used to power Apple’s delayed AI overhaul of its digital assistant Siri in 2026, the two companies announced Tuesday.
The multi-year deal, which will reportedly cost Apple around US$1 billion ($1.5 billion) a year, was confirmed in a joint statement after months of reports and speculation about a possible deal between the two tech giants.
The next generation of Apple Foundation Models will be based on cloud technologies from Gemini and Google and “will help support future Apple Intelligence features, including a more personalized Siri coming this year,” the companies said.
