BOTETOURT COUNTY, Va. (WFXR)- Appalachian Power (APCo) announced an open house in Botetourt County to answer community questions concerning a transmission improvement project to power a Google data center.
APCo is currently evaluating the following for the Daleville Area Transmission Project:

Upgrading seven miles of 138-kilovolt (kV) transmission line with a larger-capacity conductor wire.

Rebuilding ten miles of 138-kV transmission line by replacing the wire and structures to address capacity limits. (Upgrades planned in or near the existing right-of-way)

Upgrading substations in Botetourt, Cloverdale, Mount Union, and Cloverdale.

Building a new substation.

Building .01 miles of 138-kV transmission line.

Community members and area landowners are invited to the open house. It will take place between 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3 at Read Mountain Middle School located at 182 Orchard Hill Drive in Cloverdale. Attendees can come and go during the open house….
