The latest news from the Western AI Front says that Anthropic Inc, the US-based inventor of Claude, has called for a “global halt” to the development of AI so that humanity can catch up.

But that wasn’t really true.

A long blog post on the Anthropic website titled “When AI builds itself” discussed how Claude not only writes his own code but “proposes his own experiments” and explained that “the role of humans shrinks at each step in the AI ​​development process.”

Towards the end of the post, under the subheading “What Should We Do?” suggested that “if it were possible to slow down the development of this technology…we think that would probably be a good thing” as long as there is a mechanism for global coordination.
