The dispute between the Pentagon and Anthropic, one of the most valuable AI companies in Silicon Valley, has now largely disappeared from public view. At its peak last month, the controversy managed to give the company’s arch-rival OpenAI an opening, while also rattling contractors across the industry, roiling Palantir (PLTR) and leading two analysts to a public disagreement.
Most recently, reports emerged that Anthropic and the White House were in renewed talks, although the outcome of those meetings remains unclear. (Discussions were expected to include Anthropic’s powerful new model, Mythos, and its implications for national security and critical infrastructure.)
