Advanced Micro DevicesAMD has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire World Labs, an artificial intelligence (AI) model and research company led by AI pioneer Dr. Fei-Fei Li. World Labs specializes in spatial-intelligence models capable of generating, reconstructing and simulating interactive 3D environments from text, images and video. It is also developing technologies for robotic learning and simulation. The all-stock transaction is valued at approximately $8.2 billion and is expected to close by the end of 2026.
AMD believes the addition of World Labs will provide deeper visibility into how emerging AI workloads are evolving across reasoning, robotics, simulation and physical AI. This will help the company tailor future hardware, software and system architectures to those requirements. The transaction could also strengthen AMD’s position in physical AI and robotics.
