Nutanix has recently announced that AMD will be forming a multi-year strategic partnership with them to jointly develop an open, full-stack AI infrastructure platform purpose-built for agentic AI applications.

The collaboration aims to give enterprises and service providers the freedom to run the models and workloads that actually matter to them, whether that’s at the edge, inside their own data centres, or across hybrid and cloud environments, without being locked into a vertically integrated AI stack.

This means that ilicon innovation, open runtime software, and enterprise cloud orchestration are the main instruments here, with Nutanix Cloud Platform and Nutanix Kubernetes Platform getting optimized for AMD’s EPYC CPUs and Instinct GPUs, while the ROCm software ecosystem and Enterprise AI platform will be tightly integrated into Nutanix’s full-stack AI offerings – all to create a production-ready, scalable agentic AI platform supported by a broad ecosystem of OEM partners.

As part of the agreement, AMD will make a $150 million strategic investment in Nutanix common stock at $36.26 per share, alongside up to $100 million in funding to support joint engineering work and go-to-market efforts. The equity investment is expected to close in Q2 2026, subject to the usual regulatory approvals.

As for the platform, it is expected to reach the market in late 2026, with a strong focus on performance, efficiency, and operational simplicity at scale.
