Amazon’s $1B Built Together Pledge and Local Eligibility

Amazon’s B Built Together Pledge and Local Eligibility

On October 2, 2026, Amazon Web Services CEO Matt Garman unveiled Built Together, pledging more than $1 billion in additional funding over five years for U.S. communities where Amazon operates data centers and writing, “Every community is different.” The commitment covers education, job training, energy affordability, water protection and priorities chosen with local groups.

The Built Together program outline targets free community-college access for more than 300,000 students, training for up to 100,000 learners annually by the end of 2028, and energy upgrades for more than 30,000 homes and 300 schools and community buildings over five years. These are program goals, not awards already available to every eligible resident or building. Enrollment processes and launch dates vary by community and are being established with local partners.
